Contact Lens Fittings
Contact Lenses
Contact lenses are the perfect choice for people who need vision correction and do not want to wear glasses or undergo Lasik surgery. Paula F. Hernandez Hoover, O.D. knows the importance of finding the contacts that fit you best. Once you’re fitted, our staff will help you learn how to insert, remove, and care for your lenses. Make an appointment at our office in Frankfort, KY, for a contact lens fitting today!
Types of Contacts
Contact lenses can correct the same conditions that are treated by glasses: nearsightedness, farsightedness, distorted vision, and the need for bifocals. They are available in two main types, soft lenses and gas-permeable lenses.
Gas permeable lenses are rigid, yet still allow oxygen to pass through to your eyes. Soft lenses tend to be more popular for their comfort, but gas permeable contacts may be chosen for patients with astigmatism or other conditions.
Soft contact lenses are available in daily disposables, two week or monthly disposables, torics, or bifocals. Daily disposable lenses carry a lower risk of infection.
Contact Lens Fitting
Contact lenses are placed directly on the cornea of the eye. Because eyes vary in size and shape, contacts are not one-size-fits-all. Lenses that do not fit properly can cause stress and discomfort and even damage your vision.
Dr. Hoover will measure your cornea and pupil to provide the best contacts for you. When the measurement process is completed, we will provide you with trial lenses and teach you how to put them in. We’ll examine your eyes with the contacts in place. If you wear them at home and they work well, we will order the lenses for you.
